A woman from Teesside is reported to have died after being struck by a car while on holiday in Turkey.
The Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) confirmed that it was in contact with local authorities after the death of a British woman, adding that they are currently supporting her family. The woman is believed to be a pensioner from Middlesbrough.
According to Teesside Live , a Turkish newspaper reported that the woman was taken to Bodrum State Hospital after being hit by a Mini Cooper in the area of Mugla on Monday. She is said to have been walking on the path when the tragic incident occurred.

The Mirror reports that the woman was walking back to her hotel at around 2am when the driver of the Mini lost control and the car mounted the pavement. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene after the force of the impact pinned her to a wall.
The local Turkish newspaper reported that an investigation into the death has been launched by authorities in Turkey, and an arrest has been made. The victim’s friends told the newspaper that they were set to return home on Thursday before the incident occurred.
According to The Mirror, pictures taken at the scene showed shocked bystanders gathering after the crash at Adnan Mendered Street and Gumbet Bars Street. An awning was hung over the wall the following day, with a broken bollard lying across the pavement.
Bodrum is a popular tourist destination for Brits, with the south-western city of Mugla sitting around 12 miles inland.
