Micron stock has surged 275% this year; MU earnings beat Wall Street estimates as AI demand fuels $60 billion-$63 billion revenue outlook

MU stock today: Micron Technology's stock has already delivered a huge gain this year. Now, the memory-chip maker has another strong earnings report for investors to digest after beating Wall Street's expectations and giving a better-than-anticipated outlook.

Micron reported its fiscal fourth-quarter results after the bell on Wednesday, with earnings and revenue both coming in above analyst expectations, according to Yahoo Finance.

Micron earnings beat Wall Street estimates

Micron reported earnings per share of $33.42 on revenue of $54.23 billion for the quarter.

That was above Bloomberg analyst consensus estimates of $31.83 in earnings per share and $51.49 billion in revenue.

A year earlier, Micron reported EPS of $3.03 and revenue of $11.31 billion.

Micron gives stronger revenue outlook

Micron is also projecting revenue of between $60 billion and $63 billion for the second quarter, according to the details provided by Yahoo Finance.

That compares with analysts' expectations of $56.77 billion.

The stronger outlook comes as Micron continues to benefit from strong demand for memory chips tied to the global AI build-out.

MU stock has climbed 275% in 2026

The earnings report comes after an extraordinary rally in Micron shares.

As of Wednesday, Micron stock had risen roughly 275% year to date and 550% over the previous 12 months, according to Yahoo Finance.

Micron shares closed at $1,065.11 on Wednesday. The stock was trading at $1,083.59 after hours, up 1.73%, based on the figures provided.

AI demand remains central to Micron's growth

Micron's fortunes have risen alongside demand created by the global AI build-out.

Data centers require large amounts of DRAM, which is used in high-bandwidth memory for AI processors, including graphics processing units, as well as ultra-fast flash storage. Micron produces both.

Yahoo Finance noted that fellow memory-chip makers Samsung and SK Hynix have also benefited from the strong demand.

Micron plans $10 billion investment in research

Micron is also making a major long-term investment in its business.

In August, the company announced that it would invest up to $10 billion over the next 10 years to build a long-horizon research institution in Boise, Idaho, focused on memory and AI.

Higher memory costs are affecting consumer electronics

The surge in demand for memory chips is also creating pressure for other technology companies.

Consumer electronics manufacturers have raised device prices to offset higher memory and storage chip costs.

Apple most recently raised prices for its iPhone 18 Pro line by $100 compared with the iPhone 17 Pro, according to Yahoo Finance.

While those higher prices have reduced the number of devices manufacturers are selling, the higher price tags have offset much of the negative impact on their bottom lines, the report said.
