Ashley Miller made Michigan State softball history on Sunday, throwing the third perfect game in program history. The Spartans came into a Sunday match-up with the Akron Zips looking to end the weekend with a win after a 2-2 start to the season down in Florida. Miller made sure the Spartans would go home happy, throwing a stellar performance, and retiring 21 straight batters, 14 of them strikeouts, to complete the perfect game in a 6-0 win.

The Spartans went 3-2 in the opening weekend of the season with wins against Pittsburgh, UConn and Akron. The one common denominator in all three wins for MSU was Ashley Miller on the mound pitching a shutout. Miller finished the weekend 3-0 with three complete-game shutouts and 29 strikeouts to go along with the perfect game. She is poised to have an amazing season for the Spartans this year.
