Michigan State football has started the Jonathan Smith era the way the program wanted, with a win. The Spartans survived a serious upset scare from Florida Atlantic on Friday night, 16-10.
Albeit a win, Friday night did not leave Spartan nation with a good taste in their mouth. The Spartans turned the ball over three times, while going 1-for-5 in the redzone, leaving a lot of points on the board.
Another tidbit that did not look good, the Spartans took 10 penalties netting in 110 yards.
On a bright note, the Spartans defense was dominant, holding the Owls to 10-points and just 248 yards, while forcing 2 turnovers and 7 sacks.
On offense, Aidan Chiles had an average performance, throwing 10/24 for 114 yards and two interceptions. Kay’ron Lynch-Adams paced the way rushing with 9 carries, 101 yards and a touchdown.
MSU will be back in action against Maryland, on the road, next week.
