There is no hiding that the Spartans are set for a gauntlet in 2023, having one of, if not the hardest schedule in the nation. That statement was made even more true when the first Associated Press top 25 poll came out this past week.
The Spartans are set to have five opponents who are ranked in the top 25, along with four of those opponents being featured in the top 10 of the poll.

Michigan (No. 2)
Michigan State will play host to rival Michigan on October 21st, who opens the season as the No. 2 overall team in the nation.
Ohio State (No. 3)
Michigan State will travel to Ohio State on November 11th for a matchup with the Buckeyes in the Horseshoe. OSU opens the season at No. 3 in the poll.
Penn State (No. 7)
MSU and Penn State will be taking their late November clash indoors when the two face off inside of Ford Field. Penn State is opening 2023 as the No. 7 team in the nation.
Washington (No. 10)
The first real test of 2023 for MSU will be the Washington Huskies, who will travel to East Lansing for a week three contest inside of Spartan Stadium. Washington is ranked No. 10 in the first poll of the year.
Iowa (No. 25)
MSU will play their first road game of the season on September 30th, traveling to Kinnick for a game against the No. 25 ranked Hawkeyes of Iowa.
Honorable Mention
While not ranked, both Minnesota and Illinois received votes in the poll.
