Michigan residents have shown strong participation in the electoral process, with over 3.3 million individuals casting their ballots early or absentee, according to the Michigan secretary of state’s office. This figure is consistent with the 2020 election, where 3.3 million people voted absentee in the state.
On Election Day, 58,466 absentee ballots were returned, bringing the total number of absentee ballots returned to 2,164,803. Notably, 92% of absentee ballots requested in the state have been successfully returned through various methods such as mail, drop boxes, or in-person at designated ballot drop locations.
Moreover, as of 3 p.m. ET, 9,612 voters have taken advantage of Michigan’s same-day registration option, indicating a continued interest and engagement in the electoral process.
Angela Benander, chief communications officer for the Michigan Department of State, expressed optimism about the voter turnout, stating that reports from team members and voters indicate a high level of enthusiasm among the electorate. Benander highlighted the eagerness of voters to have their voices heard and expressed hope for a successful and record-breaking election night.
