Democratic Michigan Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who is running for a Senate seat this cycle, recently expressed concerns to donors about Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign in Michigan. Slotkin mentioned during a virtual campaign event with Democratic New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker that Harris' polling numbers are 'underwater' in the key battleground state.

Recent polls show a tight race between Harris and former President Donald Trump in Michigan. One poll indicated Harris with 48% support among likely voters, while Trump garnered 47% support, resulting in a statistical tie within the margin of error. Another poll showed Harris leading Trump by three points, with a margin of error of 4.4%.

Michigan is a key battleground state in the upcoming election.

Michigan is once again a crucial battleground state in the upcoming election, with both Harris and Trump actively campaigning in the region, along with other key states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin. The article highlighted that Trump could secure victory by winning Michigan, Wisconsin, or Pennsylvania, while Harris' path to victory would likely involve winning all three states.

In the 2016 election, Trump narrowly won Michigan by a small margin, while President Biden secured a larger victory margin in the state in 2020. Slotkin, a U.S. House member since 2019, announced her Senate run last year following Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow's decision not to seek re-election.

It is important to note that Slotkin's remarks about Harris' polling numbers in Michigan may have been part of campaign rhetoric to boost donations. The campaign did not immediately respond to requests for further comments on the event.
