Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer made it clear in an interview with a local news outlet that she has no intentions of leaving her current position to join the 2024 Democratic ticket if offered the opportunity. When asked about the possibility of becoming the vice president alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, who is now running for president, Whitmer firmly stated, 'No. I'm not planning to go anywhere.'

Emphasizing her commitment to Michigan, Whitmer expressed her pride in serving as the governor and reiterated her stance by saying, 'I am not leaving Michigan. I've been consistent. I know everyone is always suspicious...I'm not going anywhere.'

Addressing the delay in endorsing Harris for president after Joe Biden's exit from the race, Whitmer explained that she wanted to take a moment to allow the news to settle. She mentioned, 'I wanted a minute to check in with all my colleagues, and let the dust settle. And proud to be supporting the vice president for president.'

Whitmer's decision to remain focused on her role as governor and her support for Vice President Harris in the presidential race reflects her dedication to Michigan and her current responsibilities. Despite speculation and inquiries about potential political opportunities, Whitmer's priority remains serving the people of Michigan.
