A Roscommon County resident has been confirmed with eastern equine encephalitis, Michigan's first human case of the disease in five years, and state officials say no animal case preceded it.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced the locally acquired case on Wednesday. It is the state's first human EEE infection since 2021. No information about the patient is being released.
