Michelle Keegan cheers on husband Mark Wright as he runs London Marathon

TV star Michelle Keegan cheered on her husband Mark Wright as ran the London Marathon, after he was left devastated last year when he had to pull out due to an injury.

Former TOWIE star Mark was supported today by Michelle and his mum and dad, as he took part in the 26 mile run, which he completed in 3:41:47.

Last year Mark had to pull out of the marathon due to a tear in his calf muscle, and he told the Mirror earlier this week that he was praying his old injury wouldn't flare up again.

Ahead of the event, Mark shared a clip on his InstaStory of Michelle dressed in a black puffer and white trousers and trainers, and Mark's mum and dad, Carol and Mark, walking behind him, and waving at the camera.

He told his followers he'd "never done anything like this in my life", and there was a first time for everything.

Mid race, Mark also shared a clip of him running and covered in sweat, as fans cheered him on.

Later on, as he neared the end, he told his followers in a video: "It's real tough. We are nearly there, feeling proud. Feeling like I've achieved something, an emotional roller coaster up and down."

A clearly proud Michelle shared a clip on her Instagram story of Mark speaking to a camera crew after his race, writing in the caption: "He did it!!", followed by celebratory emojis.

Earlier the Our Girl actress posted a clip of Mark stretching ahead of the big race.

Mark who ran for Flora, and is promoting their Get Towns Active campaign, told the Mirror that he was "feeling good, a bit nervous, a bit apprehensive but extremely excited," about the marathon.

On Thursday he said: "Annoyingly I've got a niggle in my calf this week again, which is why I pulled out last time. I'm just praying it's going to be fine.

The presenter, who was mentored by London Marathon legend Paula Radcliffe, added: "It should be fine, it's causing a bit of pain but isn't terrible".

Mark says he has pushed himself "to my absolute limit" during the training and there have been moments of pain.

He said: "I climbed up to 15 miles a bit fast, a bit quicker than I should have and the way I felt, I had never felt that feeling before in my legs, my body and my brain. I was like 'wow I've bitten off more than I can chew here'. But as I have gone on and done more I've got better."

Other famous faces taking part in the event this year were DJ Chris Evans, McFly member Harry Judd, Big Brother star Kate Lawler and Love Island winner Greg O'Shea.
