Football legend Michael Owen has spoken out after his daughter Gemma Owen placed second in the Love Island 2022 final with Luca Bish. The pair came runners-up, losing out to Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti who were crowned this year's winners.
Michael, 42, has remained very quiet throughout his 19-year-old daughter's stint in the famous Love Island villa, however, the BT sports pundit took to Twitter on Monday, August 1 to say how proud he was of Gemma.
Sharing a photo of the pair of them at dinner, Michael simply wrote: "She's done us proud."

His comments echoed that of his wife Louise, who made her debut on the ITV2 dating programme during the "meet the parents" episode earlier this week. Sharing a message with Gemma from her dad, Louise told her: "Honestly, he is really proud of you, really proud."
The Love Island final aired on Monday night and saw Ekin-Su and Davide crowned winners while Gemma and Luca placed second. Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope came third and Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page came fourth. You can read more on this here.
Meanwhile, Swansea-born Paige Thorne and Adam Collard, who hails from Newcastle, just missed out on a place in the final after being sent home in the final dumping of the series.
Season 8 of Love Island experienced a lot of firsts, including the public choosing which contestants would couple up in the launch episode, the return of a series four bombshell and an announcement during the final.
