Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma has proved she is her own best advertisement as she has proudly showed off the new collection of swimwear from her debut fashion line.
The 18-year-old entrepreneur – the daughter of England football legend and recent The Masked Singer contestant Michael, 42 – launched her OG Beachwear company last month.
Now she is selling luxury swimwear for women and men – and has modelled one of her flagship designs herself as she works to promote the fledgling brand.
Gemma, who is also something of an athlete herself as a dressage horse rider who competes for Team GB, stunned her online fans as she modelled a striking champagne coloured one piece.
The design includes backless cut outs and luxury details including gloss fabric with gold hardware detailing and the ‘OG’ design logo embroidered on the item.
Gemma has proudly discussed her new venture, writing on social media at the very end of February: “My new brand OG Beachwear is officially live!
“People that know me will know that this has been a dream of mine for a long time and It feels amazing to have it finally up and running!”
On her official website, Gemma explains that the swimwear brand is a dream come true for her – and hinted she will be hanging up her jodhpurs in favour of slipping into more swimming costumes.
She says: “I have always been ambitious and from a very young age I have represented Great Britain in their equestrian dressage teams with the unwavering support from my parents, particularly my mother and best friend, Louise.
“Up until recent years I believed that was the career path for me but as much as I love my sport and have dedicated many years to it, upon leaving education I decided to take a different career path.
“My other passions are travel and fashion and that is how the dream of having my own swimwear label was born.
“After studying Business and researching the swimwear fashion industry and what it would take to develop a swimwear collection, in 2020 I decided to go for it.”
Gemma went on to explain that lockdown had offered her the chance to focus on her designer ambitions and she utilised the time to create her brand.
She also says she hopes other young women and men will turn to her brand as a destination to find swimwear that fits and makes them feel good.
She said: “I’ve personally found it difficult to find luxurious and classy swimwear garments that have a luxury feel with a youthful edge and so this was the inspiration to create my label. My aim is to offer a brand that provides luxury, designer quality garments that ooze class and sophistication, with a hint of youth and sexiness.”
Fans might need to dig deep into their pockets to pick up the designs, however.
The ‘Paris’ design modelled by Gemma carries a retail price of £140 – while bikinis cost between £130 and £145.
Swim shorts for men retail at £110, while beach leggings for women cost £50 and a range of accessories are available costing from £120 to £150.
