Michael Owen has praised Liverpool’s ability to ‘stay in games’ after they ground out a 2-0 win over Inter Milan on Wednesday evening.
The Reds travelled to the San Siro for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash, seeking a second win in the famous old stadium this season after beating AC Milan in the group stage of the competition.
However, the game appeared to be heading to a goalless draw until second half substitute Roberto Firmino fired Jurgen Klopp's side in front in the 75th minute.

Mohamed Salah soon doubled their advantage with his 24th goal of the season to seal a priceless away win.
Liverpool had to ride their luck at times with Inter wasting good opportunities to take the lead through Hakan Calhanoglu and Ivan Perisic in particular, but Owen hailed the Reds' resiliency and believes they got their reward for a determined display.
"They stay in games, they tough it out, they have a brilliant goalkeeper," he said in his post-match analysis for BT Sport.
“Two solid players at the back, who are world-class as well. Full-backs bomb forward, we know that.
“They stay in games even when they’re not playing well, they stay in games and eventually with so much quality going forward they were always going to nick a goal or two and, as I say, it wasn’t Jurgen Klopp’s best performance but they’ll certainly take it.”
Liverpool will welcome Inter to Anfield for the second leg on Tuesday 8 March and return to domestic action on Saturday when they host Norwich City.
