Michael Owen believes Liverpool were back to their 'old selves' as they beat Rangers 2-0 in the Champions League.
A wonderful Trent Alexander-Arnold free kick opened the scoring before Mohamed Salah coolly converted a second-half penalty after Luis Diaz was brought down in the box. Jurgen Klopp decided to deviate from his usual 4-3-3 formation and the front four of Salah, Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez all had chances to add to the scoreline throughout.
Liverpool dominated the tie from start to finish, reducing Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side to just a handful of attempts on goal and producing a constant threat to their back-five that would have led to more goals, had it not been for a brilliant performance from Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

Liverpool have a potentially season-defining fortnight coming up, with their trip to the Ibrox to face Rangers again next week bookended by huge league games against Arsenal and Manchester City. The Reds travel to the Emirates this Sunday, with their hosts top of the league after picking up seven wins from their opening eight games.
