Michael Owen makes 'grandstand' prediction about Nottingham Forest's rivals Leeds and Leicester

Pundit Micahel Owen believes Leicester City and Leeds will take their relegation battle with Nottingham Forest to the final day of the season.

The Reds beat Southampton 4-3 on Monday evening to move out of the bottom three and all but relegate the Saints. Steve Cooper's side now have three games left to secure their top-flight status for next season.

Fellow relegation battlers Leicester and Leeds had a much more difficult round of fixtures with the Foxes losing 5-3 at Fulham after Sam Allardyce's team were beaten 2-1 at Manchester City.

And Owen has described the results of both clubs as horrific but still believes the battle to avoid the drop will go down to the final day.

“Not a good day at all for Leeds or Leicester, horrific,” he told Premier League Productions. “I look at those fixtures, points on the board are so important.

“There aren’t going to be many points, I feel, won out of those sets of fixtures. There are a lot of tough run-ins now.

“Only three games to go – the next two games, I can hardly see any points. But the last game, for all of them, are probably where points will be. It could be an absolute grandstand finish.”
