Michael McIntyre's Big Show viewers slam 'scripted' fake cake prank

Viewers of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show have branded the BBC series "fake" and "scripted" following a surprise prank during Saturday’s episode.

Michael had asked a woman, named Brady, to jump out of a cake - however, she wasn’t aware that she would be live on stage during the event.

Letting the audience in on the prank, Michael said: "Let me tell you what has been going on. Earlier this week, we placed an order at Brady's Bakery for some delicious pastries and iced buns. There she is piping for us.”

A clip of Brady was then broadcast to the audience and on screen, as she could be seen preparing the cakes.

He then confided: "She doesn't know that. She thinks she is coming to an exclusive birthday party, but actually, it's going to be a celebrities' birthday party.

"She is behind us now in a fake storage room."

An actor called Neil helped Brady inside the giant cake after asking her to test it, before he wheeled it into the BBC studio, where the baker leapt out of the cake in front of the audience.

However, some viewers were not convinced that the surprise was much of a shock to Brady.

One person wrote: "#michaelmcintyresbigshow not convinced with this Brady person. She seemed too unsurprised by the whole thing. Fake."

Another commented: "She didn't look very surprised."

A third said: "Yep….losing interest in these when clearly not surprised it’s a shame…they used to be more believable." (sic)

Other fans of the show believe the segment had been scripted.

One Twitter user typed: "#michaelmcintyresbigshow what a load of unfunny scripted s***e."

Another said: "People actually believe this isn’t set up from start to finish."

However, not all viewers’ comments were negative, with some praising the comedian after he surprised an Everton fan with the opportunity to score the winning penalty at a match.

Paul Stratton was left in shock when Michael told him of the opportunity.

One viewer took to social media, writing: "Paul Stratton made me cry!! Awesome experience #bigshow."

Another added: "Anyone else sobbing at Michael McIntyre's #bigshow? What a lovely, incredible man, and what a wonderful gesture by @Everton." (sic)
