Kevin Thelwell plan emerges as Everton look to save millions in transfer market
First it was Lewis Warrington. Then it was Zan-Luk Leban. Now the number stands at 11.
That is 11 new contracts signed by players in Everton’s Academy set-up so far this summer. The number could grow in the coming weeks, too.

In addition to the new deals, and the arrival of 12 new scholars, there have also been a number of appointments made by Blues director of football Kevin Thelwell. Some pretty major in the grand scheme of things.
The biggest is the arrival of Gareth Prosser as the club’s new Academy director, while Leighton Baines, Paul Tait and John Ebbrell have all been handed new roles.

Michael Keane makes James Tarkowski Everton transfer admission
Michael Keane has welcomed the signing of James Tarkowski and revealed he did all he could to help bring the defender to Everton.
Tarkowski’s transfer to Everton was confirmed earlier this month, although as previously reported by the ECHO, a deal to bring the centre-back to Goodison Park was actually agreed back in June.
The 29-year-old, who will wear the number two shirt at the Blues vacated by Jonjoe Kenny’s departure, arrives on a free transfer from Burnley. Tarkowski joined the Clarets from Brentford in February 2016 and has since gone on to establish himself in the Premier League.
Keane, who is looking forward to linking back up with his former Burnley team-mate, believes the two should complement each other well at the heart of the Blues’ backline.
