The performance of the Kansas City Chiefs in their victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 9 caught the attention of many critics. The matchup between two of the NFL’s top teams in a different country on national television didn’t disappoint.
Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin made his weekly appearance on the FS1 show ‘Undisputed’ to provide commentary on Sunday’s game. The multiple-time Super Bowl winner was impressed with the Chiefs’ physical secondary coverage on Tyreek Hill, most specifically cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.
“Like a boxer, you’re not gonna be as fast in the fourth quarter when we beat you up all game like this,” said Irvin, “and to some degree that has been happening.”
Hill finished Sunday’s game with eight catches for 62 yards, no touchdowns, and a lost fumble. The legendary receiver had plenty of praise for Patrick Mahomes’ performance in the game and, so far this season, doing the most with his cast of targets.

“Patrick Mahomes is basically God playing quarterback. I don’t care what you guys say,” Irvin explained. “He doesn’t have quite the talent he needs at wide receiver, but he always makes just enough plays to keep them in the game. If you’re not going to catch this ball, I’ll run and scoot past this first down. He’s a phenomenal, phenomenal talent.”
During Sunday’s victory, Mahomes connected with multiple receivers for two touchdown passes, finishing 20 of 30 for 185 yards. Irvin felt a moment of nostalgia seeing Hill on the field against the Chiefs as he revealed his displeasure of not seeing him still in Kansas City.
“I’m disappointed I got cheated out of Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Patrick Mahomes,” said Irvin. “That should have never been broken up. That was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen on a football field.
