Michael Conlan meets Floyd Mayweather and runs half marathon in 'crazy weekend'

It was certainly a weekend to remember for Michael Conlan.

The Falls Road fighter got up close and personal with the man he calls the G.O.A.T of boxing, Floyd Mayweather.

Conlan was offering support to his good friend Aaron Chalmers, who was taking on the legendary American fighter in an eight-round exhibition bout at the O2 Arena.

It was Mayweather's first ever fight in the UK, and while he did not land a knockout blow against the mixed martial arts fighter it was a comfortable win in the end for the 50-0 star.

Conlan was thrilled to meet the 46-year-old but was full of praise for Chalmers going the distance against the icon of the boxing world.

Conlan's weekend wasn't over just yet though as on Sunday morning he travelled down to Brighton to take part in a half marathon.

And the Belfast man completed the 13.1 route around Brighton in a fantastic time of 1:24:42.

A feat made even more commendable as he revealed on Instagram he had only managed to get four hours sleep before making the trip from London!

"Got to meet & see the G.O.A.T @floydmayweather fight my good mate @aaroncgshore live at the O2," posted Conlan.

"Straight home after 4 hours sleep then down to Brighton to do the @brightonhalfmarathon with the @boxingboothgym @newerametals crew!

"Well done to all involved. and big shoutout to @aaroncgshore for going 8 rounds with the goat."

Jamie Conlan remains confident brother Michael can land a world title shot in Belfast later this year.

May 27 is the date for a potential showdown with reigning IBF featherweight champion Luis Alberto Lopez at the SSE Arena.

It was initially hoped that the pair would meet on St Patrick's Day, but an injury to Lopez has pushed the date back.
