Michael Carrick edges nearer to landing Man United permanent manager role

  • Manchester United are set to enter talks with Michael Carrick regarding his potential continuation as manager beyond the current season.
  • Carrick assumed the role in January following the departure of Ruben Amorim and has since overseen a notable improvement in both team morale and on-field performance.
  • Under his leadership, United successfully secured qualification for the Champions League with three matches remaining and are on the verge of clinching third place in the Premier League.
  • According to The Athletic, chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox are anticipated to recommend Carrick's permanent appointment at an executive meeting this week, with bookmakers having already suspended betting on him.
  • Midfielder Casemiro, who is confirmed to be leaving the club this summer, will have the opportunity to bid farewell to the Old Trafford faithful during Sunday's final home game against Nottingham Forest, having delivered strong performances during Carrick's tenure.
