Michael Beale has shared his ‘excitement’ ahead of next season as he reflected on the 2022/23 campaign.
It was an eventful year for the 42-year old as he took his first steps into management with QPR. Beale made an instant impression at the London side and he was courted by Wolves but he ultimately turned down a move to the English Premier League before making a return to Rangers.
Beale previously worked under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox as his influential first-team coach and he couldn’t reject the opportunity to return ‘home’ after Giovanni van Bronckhorst was dismissed in November.
There was a marked improvement in results following the Englishman’s appointment but the season ended in huge disappointment with no silverware after two costly defeats to Celtic in the League Cup and Scottish Cup.
Beale has wasted no time in altering his squad this summer with a major rebuild on the cards. Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell and Jack Butland have already agreed deals to move to Rangers, while it’s understood that versatile attacker Sam Lammers will be the next new signing through the door.
Confidence is growing amongst fans ahead of next season and in a post on social media, Beale admitted that he’s ‘optimistic’ as he expressed the ‘huge honour’ of managing the Rangers.
He posted on Instagram: "2022/23 will always be a season that I will never forget, as it was my 1st season as a manager. Lots of highs and disappointments along the way, games won and lost, great goals and experiences for a lifetime.
"I owe a huge amount of thanks to the players, fans and staff at both clubs. The season started at QPR with a fantastic young team with lots of energy and talent.
"In November, it was back “home” to Rangers FC and a group of people that are like a family and have shared so much together.
"It’s a huge honour to be the manager of this wonderful football club. Now the season has ended, I am excited and optimistic about the future and what the new season brings for everyone at Rangers FC - see you in July."
