A family holiday isn't necessarily just a family holiday when you're a football manager and Michael Beale may have dropped a big signing clue by revealing his whereabouts.
The Rangers boss is preparing for his first full season in the Ibrox hotseat and a major rebuild is under way in Govan. Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield are gone, while Kieran Dowwell and Dujon Sterling are the new faces in the door. Goalkeeper Jack Butland is expected to join them soon, while the wait for Jose Cifuentes shouldn’t be too much longer.
The Light Blues have also been linked with Haji Wright, and Beale may just be combining business with pleasure. The Govan gaffer shared a post to his Instagram story that appeared to be him taking in some evening entertainment overseas while he recharges the batteries. But eagle eyed fans will have spotted that the backdrop to the stage in front of Beale is emblazoned with the words ‘Cullinnan Belek” – a four-and-a-half star hotel in Antalya, Turkey.
Now, it may just be coincidence that Wright currently plies his trade as Antalyaspor’s No.9. But transfer season leaves little room for chance occurrences and Beale’s post has set tongues wagging that he’s in Turkey to try to thrash out a deal for the American international.
Southampton have also been credited with an interest in the player, who was reportedly the subject of a £7million bid from Rangers. But Antalyaspor are already trying to source replacement hitmen, which strongly suggests they are resigned to losing the 25-year-old this summer.
However, Rangers have other irons in the fire. Record Sport exclusively revealed Cremonese sharpshooter Cyriel Dessers is a target. The Serie A striker has had a £6,5million price tag slapped on him though, so it could be a case of him or Wright rather than being able to buy both.
