Michael Beale reveals Rangers deadline stance on Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent deals

MICHAEL BEALE insists he won't set a deadline for Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos to commit their futures to Rangers beyond the summer.

The Ibrox stars are in the final months of their deals and are free to discuss Bosman moves away from the club with potential suitors in the coming months.

Beale has spoken of his desire to retain the services of both players for the long term as he seeks to rebuild the squad he inherited from Giovanni van Bronckhorst on his return to Glasgow.

The Englishman handed Todd Cantwell his debut against St Johnstone on Saturday following his move from Norwich City and Ianis Hagi added further strength to the forward line after making his long-awaited return following knee surgery.

The situations with Kent and Morelos have been put on the backburner during the January window and Beale won't push the pair too much in the coming weeks as he seeks to keep their focus on football rather than their respective futures this term.

Beale said: "With Todd coming in and Ianis coming back, it does ease a little bit of the burden as well.

"With those boys, if I was to put a deadline on it, I don’t think I’d get the best version of them.

"I think you’ve got to know them both and keep the talking going and I think as long as there’s honesty, and I mean honestly on my part on their part but more so when we get outside.

"It’s one thing saying something inside like ‘I’m going to be honest with you – I’m going to keep playing you and you are going to be honest with me and keep playing your best.’

"If I’m not true to tat or they are not true to that I think that’s different. Then you can break the trust.

"I won’t ever break the trust with those two boys and I don’t think they will with me because of the relationships. The other side of it will come to fruition in the coming weeks.

"The fact that neither is leaving in this window is probably a positive."
