Michael Beale Rangers respect and authority revealed as Graham Dorrans says he can handle Morelos style spats

Graham Dorrans has given an unique insight into the style and presence of Michael Beale as the QPR boss edges ever closer to becoming the new Rangers manager.

There is this perception that he was the good guy in the dressing room - as well as the main training and tactics man - while Steven Gerrard was more distant from the squad during their three and a half years together at Ibrox.

But Graham Dorrans has revealed that Beale was very much a man of authority and that means he will have the ability to handle any major issues that might come his way - like the way Gio van Bronckhorst had to deal with the attitude and fitness issues of Alfredo Morelos as he tried and succeeded in getting to the Champions League.

Former Rangers midfielder Dorrans told BBC Sportsound: “Mick was never in the dressing room putting his arm around players or mixing with them when they’re playing head tennis or whatever. That was Tom Culshaw’s job.

“He was always with Steven Gerrard and I see no problems for him in terms of authority if a situation like the Morelos one comes up. He will be able to deal with it. For me there will be no issues for him in that regard.

“He knows the players and he got the best out of them when he was there before – Ryan Kent and Morelos in particular. He can put a smile on their faces again and hopefully he can bring success back to the club.

“His stock is only going to rise. In two or three years time he might be out of Rangers’ reach because he is a very good coach. Given time he will prove me right."
