Rangers have reportedly earmarked Botafogo Luis Castro as a potential replacement for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Dutchman was relived of his duties as manager earlier this month after stuttering league form leaves them nine points behind Celtic in the Premiership title race, with clubs now on their World Cup break. QPR boss Michael Beale is the heavy favourite to land the gig at Ibrox but new reports have claimed that an alternative name could also come into the Rangers running.
Goal Brazil report that Castro has been 'contacted by the Light Blues and will be 'an option if the negotiation with Michael Beale does not go through.' The 51-year-old Portuguese boss took over at at the Brazilian Serie A side in March and has the club in 11th in the table. He also holds extensive experience in Europe, which started in the lower leagues of his nation before a chance at Penafiel.

He's since held youth and senior roles at Porto alongside becoming Rio Ave, Chaves and Vitoria Guimaraes prior to a first gig outside Portugal.
Castro was manager of Ukrainian heavyweights Shakhtar Donetsk from 2019 until 2021 before moving to the middle-east at Al-Duhali.
Outside of former Rangers assistant Beale, few names have been heavily linked to the vacant manager post in Glasgow, although the likes of Sean Dyche have been mentioned.
