Michael Beale has given Zak Lovelace, Adam Devine and Charlie McCann the chance to impress with the Rangers first-team squad. The new boss has promoted the youngsters from the B team to train with his first-team squad as one of his first orders since returning to Ibrox.
Beale is short of numbers with some of his international players being given extra time off , while the likes of Borna Barasic remain on World Cup duty with Croatia. Ahead of the return to Scottish Premiership action against Hibs on December 15 Lovelace, Devine and McCann have been put through their paces by Beale and his new management team at the Rangers training centre.
Defender Leon King remains part of the set-up after playing a major part in the final few months under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Beale has made it clear he sees the Ibrox academy as a major part of his future plans. Lovelace has impressed in the Lowland League since his summer move from Millwall.
Devine is seen as the long-term cover for captain James Tavernier. Former Manchester United kid McCann has already made his Rangers first-team bow under Van Bronckhorst.
Meanwhile, Rangers will no longer be playing a closed door game against Swansea City this weekend with Beale’s first chance to look at his new squad being pulled. The English Championship side will now have a friendly against Dundee United at Tannadice this weekend after their clash with Hearts.
