Michael Beale issues Rangers injury update ahead of Servette clash

Michael Beale has issued an update on his Rangers squad ahead of tomorrow's Champions League qualifier against Servette.

The Ibrox boss has revealed that Ridvan Yilmaz and Ben Davies will both miss the clash due to injury.

Beale said: "Ridvan Yilmaz will be available for selection before the Morton game, all going well. Ben Davies should return to training early next week.

"I think in the forward areas we are quite strong for numbers at the moment.

"Tom Lawrence is back in training and will be back available shortly.

"Kemar Roofe is back fit too. That is two players we didn't have last year, so we are quite healthy in terms of numbers."

On the importance of landing a spot in the Champions League, Beale added: “Champions League finance is the biggest you can get in club football - it took a lot of effort to get back into the competition but it is something a club like Rangers strives for.

“The players we have brought in have played in European competitions so they have good experience at this level. We know enough about Servette to be aware of the strengths they have and prepare for what kind of side we need to face. Servette have earned their right to be here and nobody here underestimates them - we will need to be at our best in the next two games in order to advance.

“Genk were a dangerous team and it was a good competition to watch between two good sides. We know Servette have plenty of fight, so both challenges at home and in Geneva will be great games.

“We were frustrated with the weekend but we don’t have time to dwell - tomorrow is very important - we trust the fans will be right behind the team at Ibrox. The games at this level are always tough - we are not looking any further than the game right now and making sure we get a positive result.

“We believe in the work we are doing - I’m confident with the way we play and what we are working towards, but we need to more direct and decisive. We know how important the fans are, and they know it also. They show what they bring to the club and it’s important the players on the pitch match that energy - together that is what makes our club special.”
