Michael Beale in Rangers transfer update with Morgan Whittaker move off

Michael Beale admits Rangers are not any closer to landing any of their signing targets this month.

In fact, the Ibrox boss has revealed that a move for Swansea City's Morgan Whittaker is off.

The 22-year-old attacker has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers this month.

The Gers have had several bids knocked back by the Championship outfit, with both Beale and Swans boss Russell Martin openly discussing any potential deal in the media.

However, speaking this afternoon, Beale has said: "He will be staying at Swansea, I believe."

Reports in Belgium have claimed that Rangers are all but set to announce Nicolas Raskin from Standard Liege.

There still appears to be work needing done on that deal though, with Beale insisting that nothing is any further forward. Stuttgart are also keen on the player.

Speaking prior to his side's trip to Tynecastle this midweek, Beale said: “No closer on deals at the moment, as soon as any updates in the next 24 hours we will make you are aware.

"We are looking for a midfielder that strengthens the team and creates more competition. I want players here for the long term and to make us stronger right to now.

“Once the window shuts the coaching takes place and I am looking forward to that. We always have a different targets for every position - I am really pleased with the targets from our recruitment tam. We are all aligned across the club.”
