Michael Beale in Rangers contract update as boss reveals 'different angle' to Morelos and Kent talks

Michael Beale says he has been able to come at the contract situation at Rangers with Alfredo Morelos and others from a 'different angle'.

The new Light Blues boss is urging no panic over the imminent futures of some of the club's top stars, including striker Morelos and attacking partner Ryan Kent who are entering the final year of their deals in Glasgow. Both forwards have reportedly garnered interest from abroad but with no sign as of yet of penning a new deal at Ibrox.

Yet Beale, who admits the tone of conversations around new contracts has changed since his arrival, is urging 'no panic' and admits he has already seen an upturn in form for some stars in limbo. The likes of veterans Allan McGregor, Ryan Jack and Aberdeen double-goal hero Scott Arfield also have short Ibrox deals left.

He told Sky Sports: "I'll always say that if you have a player with six months or six years, then I'll take the one with six months because they tend to be fit, focused and trying to do the best on the pitch for the team and themselves.

"Alfredo's situation, like one or two others, gives us the opportunity to look as well. There's been a change of manager and a change of eyes, that mixes things up and it's fair to say the conversations that might have been happening have a different angle now with me coming in.

"Every person is unique and the most important thing that the fans need to hear and people need to know is that we will play these games to pick up three points. Those talks were ongoing before I came in and they will continue to. That's Ross' (Wilson) job with the opinion of myself and one or two others to go away and have those conversations.

"I think you've seen a jump in Ryan Kent's form, Ryan Jack is in the team and playing well. Scott Arfield did himself no harm with two goals and he will come into the team. I think it's too soon to panic on anything, let's just see."
