Michael Beale a Rangers risk says Simon Jordan as he warns impending boss of Gio Van Bronckhorst 'trap'

Michael Beale joining Rangers as their new manager is a risk says Simon Jordan.

The current Queens Park Rangers boss seems to be way on his way to a sensational return to Ibrox, having been Steven Gerrard's second in command in a three and a half year spell in Glasgow. Beale, who took his first step into a managerial role this summer at Loftus Road is heading for an early exit, straight in to the Light Blues hot-seat as Giovanni Van Bronckhorst's successor.

The Dutchman was sacked earlier this month and the Rangers supremos have swooped in to entice Beale back to Glasgow, with the Englishman pictured arriving at Auchenhowie and an announcement expected imminently. But one detractor of the move is talkSPORT pundit Jordan, who says the real task at hand is chopping down a rampant Celtic side.

The former Crystal Palace owner is also forecasting a tough comeback for Beale and says the eventual fate of Van Bronckhorst may also fall on the coach. Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan said: "I think Rangers are taking a risk. This is a guy that was a coach in their building period of time, he has been managing QPR for 20 games and the last four or five haven't been particularly compelling for Queens Park Rangers.

"The bottom line here is that he goes to Rangers and maybe he will reap what he sows because Rangers are in a very difficult position, Celtic are dominant at this moment in time. And the only game in town is what happens between Celtic and Rangers.

"He may fall foul of the same trap that Giovanni van Bronckhorst fell into, which is producing a team that did commendable things in Europe and then getting no latitude the moment you fall short in the Premiership and the manner in which you engage with the media. I don't admire this. I think he's a Johnny-come-lately who got a job at Queens Park Rangers on the back of someone giving him an opportunity because at this moment in time, no one knew whether he was going to be a good manager. He's a Johnny-come-lately in the management world. Someone had to take that plunge.

"Someone had to say: 'I am going to pluck you from the obscurity of being a member of the coaching staff and give you the big seat, I'm going to give you the opportunity to earn the right to be a manager and learn on my dime and my time'.

"The reward for that is he has indexed the walls and we all praised the pushback, and now here we are again with a situation manifesting itself that he is likely to go to Rangers. What could QPR have done? I don't think they could have done very much. I don't think they ever had control of their own destiny in that situation."
