Michael Ball got Botox

Michael Ball was told to get Botox by a very famous singer

Michael Ball was told to get Botox by a very famous singer.

The 62-year-old musical theatre legend did not reveal the identity of the celebrity in question but explained that when he was in his late forties, she advised him to go for the age-defying injection into his face before he “needed” it.

Speaking on UK TV show 'Loose Women', he said: "It was about 15, maybe even longer, years ago. A very well known - who shan't be mentioned - singer was looking great. She said 'Botox love, do it now before you need it! And I thought that ship may have sailed..."

But the West End star - who has been in a relationship with Cathy McGowan since 1972 - listened to the singer and went for the procedure anyway only to find that it was extremely painful and joked that he looked like an alien from the 'Star Trek' franchise.

He said: "I went, and I thought 'Come on, let's have a bit...' First of all, it hurts like you can't believe. Or, I thought it did and and I'm not that brave. But I came out and I looked like a Klingon. This eye went up, this came down."

Michael - who has made his name starring in productions of 'Les Miserables' and 'Phantom of the Opera' - added that his significant other couldn’t believe what he had done and he stayed at home for six months.

He said: "And I went home and Cathy said 'What the hell have you done? You can't go out! So six months!

"But there is one clip, I'd gone on Wogan's 'Now and Then' and this was at the tail end of the Botox effect. So never, ever, ever...let that be a lesson!"
