Micah Richards and Alan Shearer agree on 'brilliant' Mark Viduka's Leeds United impact

Pundits Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer have discussed former Leeds United striker Mark Viduka's legendary four-goal performance against Liverpool back in 2000. The Australian international fired four goals past Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld, including three in the second half, in order to give David O'Leary's Leeds an improbable win.

Viduka's first came with the Whites already 2-0 down, a great chip over Westerveld thanks to a mistake from Reds midfielder Christian Ziege. His second was a bullet header two minutes after the halftime to make it 2-2, before Vladimir Smicer made it 3-2 on the hour mark.

Viduka rounded off his hattrick with the best goal of the lot, a fantastic turn in the box taking out two defenders before firing it across the face of goal off the post and in to make it 3-3.

Leeds then took the lead for the first time in the game two minutes later with his fourth of the day, and his second chip over the Liverpool goalkeeper.

"Wasn't it a 4-3 win and he managed to get all four?" Lineker said as he hosted the latest episode of Match of the Day's Top 10 series which is looking at the best hat-tricks in Premier League history.

"Yeah, that was madness. It was against Liverpool, yeah," Richards replied.

"He was brilliant, you know," Shearer said. "I mean, he was technically superb, he was, Viduka, because he was a big lad. Some say he looked lazy at times but he did have some ability."

"He was big," Richards agreed. "I saw him a couple of times when he was at Leeds because obviously I'm a Leeds boy. I'm not a Leeds fan but I just like Leeds. But he was like Alan said, technically he was just so good at bringing people into play and his finishing was brilliant."
