A Miami man was arrested by police for allegedly beating his girlfriend's 5-year-old son for watching the children's show 'PAW Patrol' because he believed it was 'for girls.' The incident took place at a home in Miami the day after Christmas in 2022.
According to reports from Miami Police, Keyyun Bryant, 36, was taken into custody following the incident. A witness stated that Bryant grabbed the boy forcefully on his arm and criticized him for watching the show, claiming it was intended for girls.
The child later disclosed to staff members at the University of Miami Child Protection Team that Bryant had grabbed his arm, scratched him, and threatened to take him to jail by wrapping his hands around his neck. The witness corroborated the child's account, mentioning that Bryant entered the room while they were watching 'PAW Patrol,' grabbed the boy by the arm and neck, and hit him in the back of the head for being in the 'girls room.'
'PAW Patrol' is an animated series featuring six rescue dogs who work together to protect their community, promoting teamwork and problem-solving skills.
During police questioning, Bryant claimed that he had been looking after his girlfriend's children while she was at work and denied the allegations against him. He alleged that the child's biological father had made false accusations against him in the past.
Authorities located Bryant and arrested him last Tuesday. He has been charged with one felony count of child abuse, as per Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation online records.
