The Miami Heat have listed Jimmy Butler as doubtful for their game on Thursday against Orlando, citing the need for him to recondition before returning to the lineup. Butler's future with the team seems uncertain, with reports suggesting he may be seeking a trade before the league's Feb. 6 deadline.

While Butler has not formally requested a trade, sources have indicated that the six-time All-Star is open to joining teams such as Phoenix, Golden State, Houston, and Dallas. Interestingly, Butler's recent hair color choices align with the primary colors of these teams' uniforms.

Despite the trade speculation, Butler has expressed a positive attitude towards the attention, stating, 'It’s good to be talked about. I don’t think there’s such a thing as bad publicity — to a point.'

If Miami does not trade Butler, they risk losing him as a free agent next summer. The ongoing saga surrounding Butler's future began in May when Heat president Pat Riley was noncommittal about offering him a contract extension.

Butler, who is eligible for a lucrative extension, has faced criticism for his injury history and availability. Riley emphasized the importance of committing significant resources to a player who can be consistently available on the court.

Butler recently missed games due to an ankle injury and subsequent illness, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his status. Despite these setbacks, Butler has been a key player in helping the Heat reach the NBA Finals twice during his tenure, averaging 18.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists this season.

As the trade deadline approaches, the situation with Jimmy Butler remains fluid, and Miami will need to carefully consider their options to secure their future roster.
