MUMBAI: Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden IPL hundred against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday night must rate amongst the best centuries in the IPL. That it came in the 1000th IPL match couldn’t have been more apt. However, it took just three balls of magic from Tim David to turn it into a vain effort in a losing cause.
Jaiswal blazed away to a sensational century (124, 62b, 8x6, 16x4), taking the Rajasthan Royals to 212 for 7 against MI after the visitors decided to take first strike. However, needing 17 off the final over, MI were taken over the line in thrilling style by David, who smashed Jason Holder for three consecutive sixes off the first three balls to seal the chase.
