NEW DELHI: Swashbuckling Suryakumar Yadav dazzled with his maiden IPL ton as Mumbai Indians brushed aside table-toppers Gujarat Titans by 27 runs in a one-sided affair at Wankhede stadium on Friday. It was Mumbai's fourth consecutive 200-plus score as a near-perfect win helped them reclaim the third spot on the points table.
An in-form Surya once again lit up the Wankhede as his breathtaking effort helped Mumbai notch up their seventh win of the season. After a sizzling 83 in the last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the local boy Surya took his innings a notch higher, firing a stunning 103 not out off just 49 balls.
Taking the Titans bowlers to the cleaners, an unstoppable Surya singlehandedly powered the hosts to an imposing 218 for five after Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya asked Mumbai to bat first. In reply, Titans batting department failed jointly as a unit but Rashid Khan's unbeaten 32-ball 79 blitz did save them from an embarrassing defeat.
