MI Cape Town secured their first-ever SA20 title in a dominant display at the sold-out Wanderers on Saturday, with star pacer Kagiso Rabada delivering a stunning four-wicket haul to dismantle defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Rabada's 4/25 restricted the Sunrisers to just 105 in response to MI Cape Town’s imposing 181/8, the second-highest total in an SA20 final.
Sunrisers coach Adrian Birrell reflected on his team's journey to the final and acknowledged MI Cape Town's dominance. "Trying to get to the finals after losing the first three matches so badly was a good effort," he said. "The guys fought all the way; we weren't just going to give away the trophy. I thought we were peaking at the right time, but it wasn't to be in the final."
