Jeurys Familia is headed to the injured list.
The struggling Mets reliever is being placed on the 10-day IL with a sore shoulder, said manager Mickey Callaway before Wednesday's game against the Reds. Callaway also said Familia received an injection in the shoulder earlier in the day.
The Mets called up left-handed reliever Ryan O'Rourke to replace Familia on the active roster.
Familia was responsible for a blown save against Cincinnati when he was asked to get six outs to close the game. After retiring five batters on 14 pitches, he walked Jesse Winker on four pitches before allowing two key hits that let the Reds tie the game. The Mets later won in extra innings on a Pete Alonso sacrifice fly.
In 14 appearances this season, Familia has a 6.28 ERA with 15 strikeouts over 14 1/3 innings.
