A former Tyneside company of the year has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators, it has emerged.
Metnor Construction – winner of the Northumberland and Tyneside Company of the Year in 2017 – is understood to be in talks with business advisors in Newcastle, having fallen into financial difficulties.
Calls to the company’s group head office confirmed that it has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators to Metnor Construction. The move comes months after the Killingworth firm published accounts covering 2021, noting a significant bounce back from Covid, with turnover up from £48m to £63m and the previous year’s operating loss of £2.4m was converted to profit of £942,000.
