In kitchens, metallic details typically come in the form of cabinet pulls, faucets, and lighting fixtures. But the metallic kitchen trend is encouraging people to introduce metal details in a new way.
From brass to chrome, adding metallics in less expected ways offers a more unique way to decorate. And as this year's kitchen trends continue to champion more personalized style, it's a design feature we're expecting to see everywhere in 2025.
We've turned to experts for their take on this emerging trend, plus share five spaces that prove metallic kitchens are anything but outdated – it's the perfect inspiration for introducing it to your own scheme.
What's the appeal of the metallic kitchen trend?
Whether your kitchen leans traditional or modern, metallic details on your cabinets, island, or walls elevate your scheme, adding elegance and a touch of glamor. It's not about creating a metal room (which would be a nightmare in the summer), but rather accessorizing the space as you would an outfit.
'We absolutely love the metallic kitchen trend! In fact, it’s something we’re so passionate about that we even featured it in a TikTok video highlighting how metallic finishes are becoming popular not only in kitchens but throughout the rest of the home as well. This trend feels fresh, modern, and versatile, yet it has a timeless appeal that can easily be adapted to different styles,' says Kailee Blalock, co-founder at House of Hive Design Co.
The timing of the trend is no coincidence. Kailee notes that it follows the shift we're seeing in the world of fashion right now – and as we all know, many interior design trends are influenced by fashion trends.
'Metallics are everywhere right now – from ballet flats and sneakers to statement bags – and that excitement is translating into the world of interiors. We recently transitioned out of a phase dominated by warm metals like brass and gold, and now, there's a growing appreciation for the cooler, sleeker look of chrome and stainless steel,' Kailee explains.
Cabinet facings, inlays, and island features are all stylish ways to introduce metallic details. And, depending on the aesthetic of your space, polished metals or distressed finishes can be introduced – the former of which is proving the dominant design.
'Distressed metals are making a strong comeback in 2025, offering a unique blend of character and history to kitchen interiors. Unlike the perfection of highly polished finishes, distressed metals bring a sense of heritage and authenticity to contemporary spaces,' says Charlie Smallbone, founder at Ledbury Studio.
'Their distinctive patinas add visual interest and evoke a feeling of craftsmanship that enriches the overall design. For those looking to create a warm, inviting atmosphere, these metals offer the perfect balance of rustic charm and modern elegance, transforming the kitchen into a lived-in, welcoming space,' he adds.
5 spaces that prove metallic kitchens are back on trend
If you like the sound of the metallic kitchen trend but aren't sure how to approach it, these five schemes demonstrate a variety of ways to embrace metals, whatever the style of your space.
1. A kitchen with copper cabinet fronts
One of the most striking methods of bringing metallics into the kitchen is with cabinet fronts. Adding an eye-catching feature and breaking up a solid run of cabinets, it's an approach you can expect to see more of in 2025.
'Our kitchens feature a whole host of different metallics from beautiful marquetry panels with liquid brass inlays to aged brass or pewter doors. But a real signature for Ledbury Studio is verdigris copper, which is used in many of our kitchen designs for door fronts, cupboards, and islands,' says Charlie.
In their Hackney kitchen project pictured above, the floor-to-ceiling cabinetry has been elevated with the copper cabinet fronts, introducing a warmer finish alongside the darker cabinets. 'The copper is a living finish that will mature over time, developing a rich patina,' he adds.
2. A marble kitchen with chrome framing
'We also love experimenting with metallic hoods, though that approach can be tricky to execute without veering into an industrial feel. When done right, it adds a stunning focal point that feels both chic and contemporary,' says Kailee.
Tommy Hilfiger's kitchen is a perfect example of how to introduce metallics without feeling industrial. The white cabinets, range cooker, and extraction hood have all been framed with chrome, adding an elegant finish to the scheme. Paired with the marble backsplash, it feels truly luxurious and contemporary.
'Ultimately, the key to using metallics successfully is to blend them with textures and tones that complement their reflective qualities. Pairing chrome or stainless steel with organic materials like natural stone or textured wood softens the look and creates a space that feels polished yet inviting,' adds Kailee.

3. A moody kitchen with metallic facing on the island
Metallic finishes don't have to be used throughout a kitchen design – creating a feature in one area of the kitchen creates a stylish focal point without overwhelming the space.
'Our favorite way to incorporate metallic finishes is by using them on base cabinets or islands. A metallic-wrapped kitchen island, for example, becomes an instant statement piece, drawing the eye,' says Kailee.
In this kitchen, the island has become the focus as tarnished brass metallic wrap has been added to its base. Cohesion has been added by using the same brass finish on the hardware and lighting.
4. A wooden kitchen with elegant brass inlays
When used in the right way, metallic details can add a sense of elegance to a kitchen. It works particularly well in wood kitchens to break up the bulk of oak cabinets.
Brass inlays have been introduced to these handleless kitchen cabinets – it adds interest that would usually come from the handles, and it instantly softens the overall look and feel of the space.
5. A blue kitchen with gold metallic accessories
Metallics can be used to add a certain aesthetic to a kitchen. Art Deco is one interior design style that really embraces bold metals to add glamor and bold design statements.
This blue and gold I-shaped kitchen is a perfect example – blue cabinetry makes a bold statement, while the gold details are added through shelving, handles, lighting, and the bar and stools.
Lighting is a fun way to introduce metallic details in a more subtle way, and pendant lights are perfect for kitchens.
Gold and blue is a classic, glamorous pairing – and these bar stools are a stylish and comfortable choice.
If you don't have space for a bar cart, this gold shelf is an elegant way to add a small drinks display with wine glass storage.
The metallic kitchen trend is fresh, versatile, and a new way to add something unexpected to a scheme. And, as Kailee adds: 'The beauty of metallics is in their ability to elevate a kitchen’s design without overpowering it. These finishes provide a clean, crisp aesthetic that resonates with people looking to modernize their spaces without feeling overly trendy.'
