Metal fences have been erected in Glasgow’s George Square in preparation for Rangers’ appearance in tonight’s Europa League final.
Fans are expected to flock to the city centre in their thousands if the Ibrox side lift the trophy against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The move follows extensive damage caused last year in George Square where supporters descended to celebrate the club’s Scottish Premiership league win.
Employees from Glasgow City Council erected fences around statues and flower beds during Wednesday.
Memorial benches have been removed after some were damaged during last May’s destruction.
Fences were placed around a grass area while it’s anticipated further fencing will be put in place before kick-off in Seville.
Council chiefs ordered the safety measures ahead of tonight’s match and Rangers’ clash against Hearts in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.
A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: “We have been in regular contact with Rangers in the build-up to this week’s finals.
“Appropriate plans are being put in place to minimise the impact of any gatherings linked to these games.”
