A serving Met Police officer could be sacked following a road rage incident with a member of the public.
Ajitpal Lotay will face the resumption of his misconduct hearing on February 28 after an altercation with another driver last year.
On February 13, 2022, Trainee Detective Constable Lotay had a verbal altercation in Wandsworth while off duty and demanded the woman move her car.
After showing his warrant card and identifying himself as a police officer, he then threatened and abused the driver, according to a hearing notice.
He was later convicted on November 30, 2022 at Westminster Magistrates’ Court under Section 4A of the Public Order Act.
He was also fined £300, required to pay compensation of £200 to the victim and costs of £775 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
A notice published by the Met ahead of the misconduct hearing notice states: “It is alleged that former TDC Lotay has breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of ‘Discreditable Conduct’ and ‘Authority, Respect and Courtesy’.
“It is further alleged that this conduct, if proven, amounts to gross misconduct in that it is so serious as to justify dismissal.”
