The Met Office has issued a warning that wind speeds could reach 50mph in northern parts of Northumberland on Friday.
A yellow weather warning is in place between 6am and 3pm in the Scottish borders and Northumberland. Wooler, Berwick and Kielder are all set to be hit with gusts of 45mph to 50mph on Friday.
The wind warning covers the A1 and A68 roads and East Coast Mailine railway linking England with Scotland.

"Very strong and gusty winds may lead to some travel disruption during Friday morning," the warning states.
Expect days to road and rail journeys, the forecaster says while drivers of high-sided vehicles should prepare for delays if they are travelling on exposed routes and bridges.
Scotland is likely to get stronger winds.
The Met Office says: "Southwesterly winds will be very strong at times during Friday morning, particularly over and to the east of high ground, where gusts of 60-65 mph are likely at times."
Wind speeds will begin to drop from around 11am but are expected to remain blustery throughout the day.
Further south in Newcastle, gusts are set to reach around 40mph, although the Met Office did not extend the weather warning south of Northumberland.
