After a mild start to February temperatures are expected to plummet next week as the UK Health Security Agency issues a cold weather warning. The cold snap is due to hit England between 6pm on Sunday and 6pm on Tuesday, according to the Met Office and the UKHSA.
It could see temperatures falling to minus 3C in rural areas, with frosts predicted. The freeze will affect all regions of England, although it's expected to hit the West Midlands and the Welsh Borders the hardest.
Although temperatures will plunge at night, daytime figures are not forecast to fall below mid-single figures during the cold snap. Those with underlying health conditions and pensioners have been urged to keep their heating on at least 18C, while people should stay warm and look out for those who are most vulnerable in cold conditions.
