A yellow weather warning has been issued for Merseyside as thunderstorms and rain are set to batter the region.
The Met Office has put the warning in place from 12pm to 9pm today, on Monday, June 12. A number of weather warnings have been issued which cover parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, much of southern England and the Midlands and most of Wales.
The warning comes after the country experienced some of the hottest days of the year so far, over the last week. After a scorching day on Saturday , storms hit Liverpool, before it cleared up and was warm and dry again on Sunday.
Forecasters have warned the heavy downpours today could increase the risk of flash-flooding, difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Despite the warning being in place, temperatures are still set to hit highs of 26C across Merseyside.

The Met Office forecast for Liverpool reads: "Another warm day with plenty of warm sunshine on offer. There is a risk of heavy showers into the afternoon which could be thundery. Light winds and feeling hot into the afternoon, especially outside of showers.
"Heavy showers gradually easing into the evening, though still a risk of the odd shower overnight. Drier further east. Staying warm overnight and still feeling rather muggy."
For the rest of the week, as the high pressure builds, the forecast should become more settled. That means there is plenty of dry weather and long periods of warm sunshine on offer.
