Forecasters have warned that colder temperatures are on the way and could bring snow.
The whole country is set to see a temperature drop thanks to a northerly airmass that will likely mean snow will fall next week. In a joint nationwide alert, the Met Office and The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have put a cold weather alert in place for three days, from 1am on Monday, March 6, to midnight on Wednesday, March 8.
The Met Office has reported that this alert is likely to increase to a severe weather warning and that it could be reviewed and extended in the coming days. Deputy chief meteorologist, Chris Almond, said: "Although we’ve moved into meteorological Spring there will be a distinctly wintry feel to our weather next week.

"Very cold air will spread across the UK bringing snow showers even to sea level in the north on Monday and these snow showers could spread further south on Tuesday. With freezing overnight temperatures and the risk of ice it is likely weather warnings will be issued for Monday and Tuesday once the detail of potential impacts becomes clearer, so keep an eye on the Met Office forecast."
According to the forecast, snow is expected to arrive in Scotland, Northern Ireland and along the East coast of England from Monday. The snow showers will then hit northern and eastern areas; however it will be cold across the UK, with widespread freezing conditions overnight.
The BBC forecast has sleet predicted in Liverpool on Tuesday, March 7 and heavier snow on Thursday, and Friday, March 9 and 10. In the meantime, showers could turn wintry at any point, as temperatures drop to around 5C in the day and -2C in the night.
