The Met Office is urging people to "stay indoors as much as possible" as Storm Eunice is expected to bring gusts of more than 90mph.
This morning, the weather forecasting service issued an exceptionally rare red warning of wind in the Bristol area ahead of Storm Eunice hitting the country tomorrow (Friday, February 18). The Met Office issued the severe danger to life weather warning this morning at 10.50am.
The alert is in place from 7am to noon tomorrow and covers the western side of Bristol, with an amber warning for wind in place for the rest of the city. The weather forecasting service has advice on its website on how to stay safe during a storm.

This includes the following advice during a storm:
- Stay indoors as much as possible
- If you do go out, try not to walk or shelter close to buildings and trees
- Keep away from the sheltered side of boundary walls and fences - if these structures fail, they will collapse on this side
- Do not go outside to repair damage while the storm is in progress
- Take care when driving on exposed routes such as bridges, or high open roads, delay your journey or find alternative routes if possible
- Slow down and be aware of side winds, particular care should be taken if you are towing or are a high sided vehicle
- Do not drive unless your journey is really necessary
The Met Office said: "The Red Weather Warning for wind covers southwest coastal areas of the UK, where the most significant gusts in exposed areas could be in excess of 90mph from early Friday morning.
"Further inland and within the wider Amber Warning area, gusts will still be significant and damaging for many, with 70-80mph gusts possible. With such severe weather impacting the UK, people should stay up to date with the latest warnings as they could be updated."
Avon and Somerset police tweeted: "This is the highest level of alert and means Storm Eunice is highly likely to cause significant disruption and dangerous conditions due to extremely strong winds."
An emergency Cobra meeting has been called this morning on response to Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice. Helicopters are on stand-by as Storm Eunice is set to hit the region tomorrow (Friday, February 18).
An amber weather warning for wind covering Wales and large parts of England including the South West is also in place from 5am tomorrow to 9pm. The Met Office warns that Storm Eunice “may cause significant disruption due to extremely strong winds” and that “there is a good chance that flying debris could result in a danger to life”
This comes as the area is still recovering from the damage caused by Storm Dudley earlier this week. An area in the city centre remains cordoned off this morning due to damage caused last night.
And pictures being shared on social media also show that a tree has fallen along one of the city's river path, while a large tree also fell on St George's Park last night.
