While a freezing spell came do a sudden end today for many, a lot of the UK will now be looking ahead for what the weather has in store for Christmas. The Met Office has issued their forecast for the week and the festive weekend ahead.
Heavy rain is the main hazard for the next day or so with a yellow National Severe Weather Warning in place for the far south of England until Tuesday morning.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Harris said; “From mid-week we expect to see a north / south split develop with colder weather arriving in the north, while the south hangs onto the mild conditions. There are, however, large uncertainties concerning where the boundary between these two air masses will eventually end up, especially as we head into the Christmas weekend.
