The North East is set for a grey and overcast weekend with temperatures remaining in single digits throughout.
Saturday morning could see a bright start though it will be cold and frosty overnight. Rain is likely for much of the rest of Saturday and moving into Sunday.
A wet and windy weekend comes ahead of expected ice and snow after a yellow weather warning was issued by the Met Office for Monday and Tuesday.

The Met Office said about Saturday: "A bright, chilly start, early frost soon lifting with spells of sunshine developing. Turning cloudier through the afternoon with coastal showers possible. Temperatures feeling a bit cooler. Maximum temperature 7°C."
