The Met Office has predicted when the cold snap is likely to end, after days of freezing temperatures.
As temperatures across Merseyside plummet, another weather warning has been put in place for ice and snow this weekend. According to the Met Office, the region will remain cold with highs of just 4C in the day and lows of -4C in the evenings. There is a risk of sleet and snow at times on the forecast.
Temperatures have already been reaching as low as -9 in some areas this week as people were warned of the icy and hazardous conditions. The weather also caused much chaos on roads and public transport services.

This week, wintry showers could hit on the night of Friday, December 16 and continue until Sunday. According to reports, there'll be a spell of snow likely on Sunday, when a Yellow warning comes into force.
Frank Saunders, Met Office chief forecaster, said: "The UK will remain in a northerly airflow until the weekend but then the cold conditions, which have dominated our weather patterns will start to lose ground to a push of mild air from the southwest – but not without problems in the transition period.
"As the mild air meets the cold air currently in situ over the UK there will be a transient spell of snow, even to low levels, especially in the north. Add to this the risk of rain falling onto frozen surfaces, and strong winds over upland areas of northern Britain (bringing blizzard conditions briefly), and this could be a day to avoid travelling in some areas, although the snow should turn to rain later."
But despite a cold weekend, the forecast for next week is looking much brighter as Liverpool could see highs of 13C on Monday, with lows of 8C. On Tuesday, temperatures are looking to be 9C with lows of 7C in the region.
According to the Met Office, after Sunday they predict: "A spell of snow likely early Sunday, with rain quickly following. Much milder than of late with further rain into Monday. Dry but cloudy and a little cooler on Tuesday."
For Tuesday, December 20 until December 29, the Met Office predicts: "Temperatures will be near normal to mild. The weather will likely continue to be mainly unsettled with showers or some longer spells of rain, most frequent in the north and northwest."
